TechAwards 2015: 10 Years & 3 Awesome Creative Partners

Since TechAwards 2015 is the 10th Anniversary of theTechAwards program, it seems appropriate to pause and take a look back at the themes we’ve leveraged over the years to celebrate the region’s best in tech.

We couldn’t even begin to take a look back without first and foremost recognizing three key creative partners who have stepped up for multiple TechAwards events to lend their time, talent and leadership to our great celebration of technology advancement: Take One Digital Media, Substance 151 and The Pomerantz Agency. Without their tremendous collective support over the years, TechAwards would not be the success it is today.

The Pomerantz Agency set the bar with beautiful and compelling event creative for TechAwards from 2006 - 2011 then passed the baton to Substance 151 who has provided spectacular and playful event marketing for the last four TechAwards events. Year after year Take One Digital Media has taken the TechAwards themes and provided brilliant opening videos to focus attendees attention and get everyone pumped for our celebration of tech! These creative geniuses are truly our TechAwards heroes!

Let's take a look back:



Take One Digital Media was there in the beginning. We were known as the Anne Arundel Tech Council then and the first TechAwards was launched in Annapolis in 2005. Take One assisted with videos of honorees to feature in the presentation.

 

In 2006, The Pomerantz Agency stepped up to give the TechAwards a fresh look with the theme “ Celebrating the intersection of technology & life”. Pomerantz continued their support in 2007 with the theme “In the Flow”, the last TechAwards as Anne Arundel Tech Council.          

 

 

  

 

 

In 2008, with the help of The Pomerantz Agency, we made the successful transition to the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council and shifted the TechAwards to the first quarter of the following year – 2009.




In 2009, Pomerantz had some fun with our theme “Regional Rockstars” and Take One got into the act with an amazing video showcasing the finalists in a “coverflow” style presentation featuring album covers for songs that inspired their success.

 

  

In 2010 we all need a bit of relief from the economic new normal and we embraced the economic challenges with our theme “Race to Renewal.” Once again The Pomerantz Agency lent their creative genius with the event creative and Take One created an opening video featuring three CRTC presidents in a metaphoric triathalon to open the show. In 2011 we made the leap to larger space at the Westin BWI and our theme – and Pomerantz provided their grand finale with the theme Inspire. Create. Innovate. Take One created and inspiring opening video to kickoff the evening blending arts and tech. We had graduated to a truly regional celebration.

  

 





      

 

In 2012 we moved down the road to the Hilton BWI Hotel, Ida Cheinman stepped up to Chair the TechAwards Committee and her firm Substance 151 provided their first year of TechAwards creative, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the organization with our theme “20 Years in Tech".

In 2013 we had a blast with the theme “Geek is the New Chic.” Substance 151 again provided the awesome creative and Take One  provided a hilarious take on Geek "Vogue".  Click here to watch the video.
 

 

 

  


Mindgrub, an Innovation Agency specializing in creating apps and games, won the Tech Company of the Year in 2013 and we were thrilled when they stepped up as Title Sponsor for the 2014 event. Since they signed on in advance of our theme announcement we had the great opportunity to wrap our theme around their great success. Inspired by our "Get in the Game" theme, Substance 151 once again provided fantastic event creative and Take One's video created a fun take on PAC-MAN featuring many finalists on-camera and vintage game graphics to get them "in the game".


 

  

 


So here we are – 2015. The 10th Anniversary of TechAwards.  Again we are incredibly fortunate to have creative support fromSubstance 151 and Take One. This year, inspired by Title Sponsor ZeroFox, we present “Connect with Confidence: #SociallySecure.”

ZeroFox won the Rising Star Award in 2014 and again we were able to secure their Title Sponsor support in time to wrap our theme around their success in "securing the social space." We've had a blast exploring the theme "Connect with Confidence."


In fact we are pretty confident you will love the surprise from Take One – you’ll just have to be there.

We are so grateful these incredibly talented creative professionals see the value in lending their time and talent to delight the regional tech community through the TechAwards program.
