We have CANCELLED Cupcakes & Computers due to predicted extreme weather. We plan to re-schedule the event to coincide with the WIT Rails Girls event on September 20 - 21.  Please check back for more details on this upcoming event.

Cupcakes & Computers

Moms (or Dads) bring your K-12 girls to the CRTC Women In Tech Forum's Cupcakes & Computers to help get girls interested and excited about computers and technology.  We will offer a preview of a Rails Girls event we have coming up in September, age based activities for the girls along with pizza and of course...cupcakes!

Show & Tell: Got something tech related to brag about? Come prepared to "toot your horn" as we'll have a sharing session to spread the word on attendees techie-talents! Let us know if you have something to share in the "Additional Comments" section of the event registration.

This event is FREE for CRTC Members and Friends.

FAQ

How much does the event cost? Nothing thanks to our Sponsors /training/etc and IntelliGenesis

Who is this intended for? Girls K-12 with computer skills and/or curiosity. If you are under 15 years old, please bring a parent or guardian with you.

Do I need to bring anything? Just bring your experience and curiosity. You'll have a chance to brag about a tech related accomplishment and we'll provide the pizza and cupcakes!

Can boys attend? Sure, but you need to be accompanied by an interested girl. Also, women and girls are given priority in the registration process.

Why are you doing this? There's no denying there's a shortage of tech talent to fill ever-growing tech jobs. Historically tech careers have been male dominated. This is our small attempt at getting more girls involved in technology to fill the regional pipeline with awesome tech talent.Young girls need to see successful women in tech related fields so that they can visualize a future in tech for themselves.
