CISO Roundtables - The purpose of these programs is to provide high level peer to peer
opportunities for tech executives to advance cyber commercial business
in the region. CISO Roundtables will feature key regional commercial cyber leaders and will be open to technology and sponsor companies only.
Mark Potter will be the featured CISO this month. Mark has worked in IT for over 20 years including 10 years focused on information security, governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
For the past five years, Mark has served as Danya International's CISO and is responsible for IT Operations and Security/GRC for all of Danya's Federal, commercial and internal client systems. Prior to working at Danya, he worked as the Director of IT Security at a publicly traded international satellite radio company and as a senior information security analyst at Washington Gas.
Before changing his focus to information security, Mark spent 6 years as a data architect building and integrating operational databases for an established public utility as well as a startup in the OSS telecom space; he also designed, built and tuned data warehouses for a fortune 500 company serving the pharmaceutical industry in Canada and the U.K.
Mark started his career in IT working as a software developer and spent 5 years designing systems and writing code for companies in the aerospace, retail, credit bureau, software and pharmaceutical industries.
Mark is a member of FISSEA, ISSA, ISACA and the Cloud Security Alliance. He has been a member of InfraGard since 2004 and was recently accepted into the Sector Chief program for the IT sector. He is also an active contributing member of the NIST Cloud Computing Security Working Group and the NIST Cloud Computing Forensic Science Working Group.
Prior to his work in information security, Mark was an active member of DAMA-NCR and the Knowledge Management Consortium (KMCI). He launched the Montreal chapter of the KMCI and served as an Editorial Board member of Knowledge and Innovation: Journal of the KMCI. He was an advisory board member and served as the Goals and Benefits track chair at ICD's Business-to-Business Corporate Portal Summit and moderator at the Software Engineering Institute's Symposium 2000 and Enterprise Intelligence (1999) conferences.
Mark is a graduate of the John Abbott College JPC program in Quebec Canada.
