We are pleased to announce that Governor Hogan’s new Secretary of the Department of Business and Economic Development, Mike Gill, will be our guest at our next Public Policy Forum.

R. Michael Gill was chairman of Columbia investment banking firm Evergreen Advisors.  He also founded the Lutherville-based cellular products and services company Americom Wireless Services in the 1980s. He ran that company until electronics manufacturer Solectron Corp. bought it in 2000. Gill stayed with Solectron before starting a small investment firm, Hoyt Capital, in 2003. More recently, Gill was also chairman at Baltimore mobile security firm Bluefire Security Technologies. Former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. appointed him in 2004 to a five-year term on the University System of Maryland's Board of Regents.  Mike was also on boards for organizations including the Baltimore County Economic Development Commission, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation, Bank of Maryland and Towson University Board of Visitors. His wireless industry experience dates back to the 1980s when he was Regional Manager for a company that was the majority shareholder of Cellular One.
