ANNAPOLIS, MD – January 24, 2014 Kris Valerio Shock, Executive Director of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, has been announced as a Finalist in the 15th Annual Women in Technology Leadership Awards. Women in Technology (WITSM) is the premier organization contributing to the success of professional women in the Washington, D.C. area technology community. The awards program honors outstanding women working in the Greater Washington, D.C. region who have exemplified unique vision, leadership and profound success in the technology industry.

Kris Shock serves the thriving Baltimore-DC Metro regional tech community through her ongoing leadership role as the Executive Director of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC). The CRTC is the leader for technology companies in the Annapolis-Washington-Baltimore triangle and serves more than 300 corporate members and offers a robust program of member-driven events and Forum Group initiatives. During Kris' tenure, the CRTC Board has increased female leadership from two Board Members in 2008 to seven in 2014, developed an ongoing Women in Tech Forum group and established a Women in Tech Award as part of the annual CRTC TechAwards program.

Jennifer Adams of Resilience Technology Corporation expresses her excitement over the honorable nomination. "Kris is a natural fit for recognition of the kind represented by the WIT awards. She has a genuine interest in raising women into positions of leadership and providing mentorship and support for women in technology fields. She brings a high level of enthusiasm and smarts to the CRTC, and is worthy of this award."
