ReXi Wireless Joins Chesapeake Innovation Center as Collaboration Hub Member

Odenton, MD (July 28, 2014) – The Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), Anne Arundel County’s technology business incubator, today announced that ReXi Wireless has joined as its newest Collaboration Hub member. ReXi Wireless is the developer of ÜberWi, a cloud-based public WiFi gateway that offers user management, network monetization, and unlimited scalability—all with minimal startup costs.

Founder Philip McQuade established ReXi Wireless at the beginning of the year to address a gap in the marketplace. “As a complimentary add-on to WiFi, ÜberWi control is centrally managed in the cloud, which allows for unlimited locations and reduced costs to the operator, as well as the ability to create additional revenue streams that not only pay for the public WiFi access, but also create increased returns,” explains McQuade. “With Big Data, and Carrier Offload in our product roadmap, ÜberWi will bring a new approach to public WiFi in market and new insights on users’ behavior and interests.  Ongoing development of our product requires funding and being a member of an incubator will be instrumental in making this happen.”

Collaboration Hub membership was designed to provide specific business growth services and assistance for start-up companies that are pre-revenue and pre-funding, by using a programmatic approach designed to move a start-up company towards growth in an accelerated manner.  Collaboration Hub members are early-stage companies with a business plan, but that need to develop their technology with demonstrated milestones and/or proof-of-concept and market validation, and to help further polish financials and presentation before approaching investors and customers.

“We look forward to guiding ReXi Wireless through the necessary steps for additional funding,” says Executive Director, Laura Willoughby. “Philip has a deep understanding of the WiFi marketplace and is a serial entrepreneur. In developing a product that costs less, ReXi Wireless brings a new revenue model to the existing WiFi market and is a great addition to our member portfolio.”
