The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council Board of Directors is pleased to announce CRTC Board Member and Treasurer, John Elstner, as Interim Executive Director. The appointment follows the departure of Kris Valerio Shock for a position in the private sector after her highly successful seven-year tenure as CRTC’s Executive Director which concluded June 30th.

"The Board of Directors is delighted that John will lead CRTC through the leadership transition,” Jason Silva, CRTC’s President of the Board, commented.  "I want to thank John for agreeing to serve as Interim Executive Director.  Having worked with John as CRTC’s Treasurer for many years, I am confident that he brings the leadership, continuity, business skills, and appreciation of the tech community’s dynamics necessary to move the organization forward.”

Mr. Elstner joined the CRTC Board in 2004 and has served as Treasurer through five Board Presidents.  He also served Maryland’s technology community as the founding CEO of the Chesapeake Innovation Center, the nation’s first homeland security-focused business incubator and an initiative of the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation, from 2001 to 2006.  Since 2006, he has served in interim CXO roles for several clients engaged in the commercialization of new technologies.

During the coming months, Mr. Elstner will lead the Board’s open search for the council’s next Executive Director.  Details about the Executive Director search may be found at
