Annapolis, MD – November 6, 2015 - The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) Board of Directors announces its selection of Tami Howie as its new Executive Director who will take office November 2nd, 2015. The selection was made after a regional executive search that began in August after the departure of seven-year incumbent, Kris Shock.
"I'm honored, and I'm grateful to the CRTC board for the opportunity to lead this vibrant organization of creative, dedicated and talented professionals. I am very excited to work with the CRTC board and our members to grow the CRTC and strengthen the tech-based entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Chesapeake Region,” Howie said.
Ms. Howie comes to the CRTC from a $75 Million technology government contractor where she served for 5 years as the General Counsel and most recently President. Prior to that, Ms. Howie spent 13 years as a technology lawyer and partner at distinguished law firms such as DLA Piper and Cooley growing companies from seed stage funding through public offering and beyond.
She has served on several organizational boards including most recently the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland and as counsel in her early career for the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. In addition, she has served the tech community by participating as a speaker, committee chair or legal advisor for both the DC Tech Council and Maryland High Tech Counsel.
Jason Silva, the President of the CRTC said, “The board is delighted to welcome Tami as our new executive leader. She has the leadership skills and marshals the people networks that will propel the CRTC into the future.”
John Elstner, who will exit the transitional Interim Executive Director post this week expressed confidence in the board’s choice. "I'm very happy with the board's decision, and I'm very confident Tami will lead the CRTC to a whole new level of service and success,” he said.
