Potomac, MD, USA: December 8, 2015. MEDEX Spot announces the award by the US Patent and Trademark Office for the automatic seat back stethoscope system which allows a medical professional at a remote hospital or clinic-based Call Center to robotically position a stethoscope anywhere on a patient’s back in its self-service MEDEX Spot UMC cabin. MEDEX Spot has two other patents pending on its UMC cabin. This is the world’s first patent of its type in primary healthcare.  When the other two patents are awarded, MEDEX Spot will clearly be the world leader in Unmanned Micro Clinics.

Vince Waterson, the Chairman of the company and co-inventor of the patent, said “Big companies in healthcare can fail despite being well run; however, their success and short-sightedness can blind them from one of healthcare’s real objectives:  To bring down the cost of healthcare, make it convenient for patients, and level the playing field in providing more equal access to urban, suburban and rural areas.  Scrappy outsiders such as MEDEX Spot are stealthily rewriting the rules.”

Dr. David Scher, Cardiologist and Advisor to the Company added, “telehealth has been limited by sustaining business models, strategic benefits to the partners in a solution, and low cost to the patient and the providers.  MEDEX Spot has all this worked out, and their patent clearly places them ahead of others in the field”

“Our Unmanned Micro Clinic technology”, Charlie Nahabedian, CEO added, “is proven in a working prototype and will offer a low cost, convenient access point to primary healthcare services, and better serve patients wherever they live or work because our unique, low-cost and private telecom network.”  The Company indicates that this now allows many retail, living and work locations to have healthcare access, where a perfect stranger can obtain a prescription, if warranted. Their network solution facilitates UMC in major drug stores, with and without manned clinics, as well as supermarket chains to be players in the healthcare market. Dr. Scher added, “Convenient, low-cost, quality telehealth is like the ‘Holy Grail’ of healthcare which will encourage early and frequent care, and overall better health for chronically ill patients and the population, in general”.

MEDEX Spot is a based in Potomac, Maryland with offices in Ventura, CA and Chesterfield, UK. This creative group previously won the Innovation of the Year Award, by the International Association of Money Transfer Networks (IAMTN) in 2007 award for the best new remittance technology. Their healthcare solution is based upon market research focused on prospective patients, healthcare professionals, and telehealth and telecom executives. In addition to their own systems, they partner with other companies serving the healthcare industry.
