Anne Arundel Tech Council announces new brand, new logo, new name
Move to Chesapeake Regional Tech Council reflects changes in council’s membership, programming over past few years of growth.
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Jan. 8, 2008 – The Anne Arundel Tech Council today announced a historic new brand for the 15-year-old council. Beginning Jan. 1, the Anne Arundel Tech Council began operations as the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, a move that better reflects the council’s membership, diverse geography and regional position as one of the largest technology associations in the state of Maryland. The move to a regional brand embraces the growth that the council has seen over the past three years as it has grown from 40-some members in October, 2004 to more than 230 today. Member companies are located throughout the Annapolis-Baltimore-Washington D.C. metro area. “The tech council has been regional for the past few years, so it seemed appropriate to have our name reflect the geographic diversity of our organization and its growing membership,” said Michael Ryan, President of the Board of Directors for the CRTC and CEO of South River Technologies. The association’s Board of Directors voted to change the name and brand of the tech council after a year of strategic positioning and branding brainstorming. The new look and feel of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council was developed by The Pomerantz Agency, a strategic marketing and design firm located in Annapolis. “Our growth has accelerated as a result of increased and targeted programming, providing tech-specific news and business opportunities, and focusing on connecting technology companies and executives throughout the region,” said Laura Willoughby, Executive Director of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council. “This name change marks just how far we’ve come in a short time, and positions us to help our members grow even more in coming years.” About the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council Founded in 1992 as the Anne Arundel Tech Council, the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council is dedicated to supporting the tri-metro region’s growing technology industry with symposiums, educational seminars and quarterly events all designed to foster an exchange of ideas from the region’s vibrant tech industry. The Tech Council is supported by a grant from the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, which allows members access to the EDC’s resources and business leaders. More than 230 businesses from the Annapolis/Baltimore/Washington D.C. area are members of the council, including many of the area’s well-known leading technology companies.
