Bio-Technology Firm Opts for Co-location
Baltimore, Maryland - July 20, 2009 - Performance Technology Group, Inc. (PTG) was selected by Correlogic Systems, Inc. (Correlogic) to provide data co-location at its secure, 24x7 staffed facility and network operations center.
Correlogic, a biomarker discovery company, pioneering serum based cancer diagnostics, recently relocated its facilities. Given the company's dependence on complex computing clusters, its IT team was faced with difficult logistical challenges.
"Building a data center in the new space would have been costly and taken up precious research space, so we opted for hosting at a third party site," says Meenoo Shivdasani, Director of Information Technology for Correlogic. "That said, it is critical that our systems are housed in a secure and reliable environment. Because of the proprietary nature of our business, a SAS 70 Type II certified vendor with in-house senior systems engineering factored into our final decision to work with Performance Technology Group."
Correlogic is developing multivariate blood tests for detection of ovarian, breast, and colorectal cancers and other diseases. OvaCheckÒ, a blood test for detection of ovarian cancer, will be the company's first test to market. OvaCheck has been submitted to the FDA for regulatory approval.
Adds Shivdasani, "Our move went well, and we're happy with our decision to co-locate. It will save money long-term, and I don't have the facility worries I would have maintaining our extensive systems in-house."
